IBP PhD Congress
Environmental Chemistry Group at the 2025 IBP Congress

The environmental chemistry group had a marvelous journey through Middle Earth at this year’s IBP Congress, further strengthening their fellowship.
Kevin Kleemann’s work was highlighted at The Shire where he gave a presentation entitled “Photochemical Chain Scissions Enhance Polyethylene Glycol Biodegradability: Probabilistic Modelling and Experimental Demonstration".
The group members also had opportunities to present their work at the Prancing Pony and the Great Library of Minas Tirith poster sessions:
- Alexander Strassberger, The influence of reactive oxygen species on biolability of dissolved organic matter
- Sofia Ambrogetti, Photochemical Degradation of Diclofenac and Cimetidine in Natural Aquatic Environments
- Samuel Cusworth, Assessment of Sampling Approaches for Representative Quantification of Microplastics in Soil
- Elvira Rudin, Deriving Soil Threshold Values for PFASs - Navigating Toxicity, Exposure, and Practical Limits
- Celina Wiedenmann, Investigating the Photoactivity of Freshwater Dissolved Organic Sulfur
