Research Interests
Welcome to the Research page of the Sander group. The group currently carries out research in three major areas:
Environmental (Bio)Macromolecular Chemistry
The focus lies on assessing key processes (including sorption and transformation reactions) that govern the environmental fate of (bio)macromolecules. The (bio-)molecules of interest include insecticidal Cry proteins from genetically modified crops, enzymes, viruses, and synthetic organic polymers.

Redox Biogeochemistry
The focus lies on using analytical electrochemistry to study the redox properties and dynamics of geochemical phases and complex environmental samples. The phases of interest are organic and mineral and include dissolved and particulate organic matter, iron-bearing clay minerals and iron (oxyhydr-)oxides.

Environmental Chemistry of Micropollutants
The focus lies on assessing key processes (including sorption and transformation reactions) that govern the environmental fate of organic micropollutants. The micropollutants of interest include apolar, polar, as well as ionogenic organic compounds.
